* Purpose
 This procedure documents how to recover access to a Bitaxe after it has been moved to a new network, displays a Wi-Fi password error, or its IP address is unknown.

Common symptoms include:

* Display shows **Incorrect Password (Err 15)**
* Bitaxe is not visible on the local network
* Unknown IP address
* Unable to access AxeOS
* Device broadcasts a setup access point such as:

# Connect to the Bitaxe Setup Access Point

If the Bitaxe cannot connect to the configured Wi-Fi network, it should create its own access point.

1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your laptop or phone.
2. Connect to:

Bitaxe_xxxx
```

3. Verify that your device receives an address in:

```
192.168.4.x
```

4. Open a browser and navigate to:

```
http://192.168.4.1
```

5. The AxeOS configuration page should appear.

# Configure Wi-Fi

1. Enter the desired Wi-Fi network name (SSID).
2. Enter the Wi-Fi password carefully.
3. Verify that the network is a 2.4 GHz network if required.
4. Save the configuration.
5. Reboot the Bitaxe.

# Find the New IP Address

After the Bitaxe joins the network, determine its new address.

## Router Client List

Check the router's connected device list.

Look for:

* Bitaxe
* ESP32
* Unknown device
* The Bitaxe MAC address

Linux:

* AxeOS v2.12.2 and later may return compact JSON rather than formatted JSON.
* `jq` is recommended for formatting and field extraction.
* Bitaxe devices are Wi-Fi only.
* 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is generally recommended.
* Keeping the same SSID and password across locations simplifies relocation.
* Document the Bitaxe MAC address for easier future identification.
